With the purpose of further implementing the AGUA PARA TODOS project (a SEED Awards Winner - see below), AGUYA TUYA signs an official agreement with: SEMAPA (Cochabamba’s Municipal Water Utility), The Municipal Government of Cochabamba and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme)
Thanks to this new agreement, the project will have access to economic resources coming from the Municipal Govt. The resources come from an account called “Popular Participation” . Neighborhoods that have prioritized Water Projects in their development agenda (and their annual operative plans) will be able to apply for these funds and invest them on the AGUA PARA TODOS project. Thanks to the Municipal support, the cost per household (of about USD 190) will be lowered by 20% giving neighborhoods easier access to the project.
The AGUA PARA TODOS project aims to give access to low cost water services to 85,000 people in poor peri-urban areas around the city of Cochabamba during the next five years. Details about the project here.
